Gujarat Titans will kick off their IPL 2025 season with a pivotal match against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 18. The tournament resumes on May 17 after being paused due to the India-Pakistan conflict, starting with KKR vs. RCB. With questions about several overseas players returning, some cricketers might make their season debut.
1. Anuj Rawat: After moving from RCB to Gujarat for INR 30 lakhs, this dynamic batter didn’t secure a spot in the initial lineup due to tough competition. With Jos Buttler potentially out because of national duties, Rawat could step in. He had a solid showing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with 192 runs at an average of 48.
2. Dasun Shanaka: If Sherfane Rutherford misses time in IPL 2025 due to an upcoming ODI series against England, Shanaka could replace him in the order. He’s known for his powerful hitting, scoring 4449 runs in T20s, and can contribute with his medium pace bowling.
3. Mahipal Lomror: A promising young batter who previously played for RCB, Lomror joined GT for INR 1.70 crores. With 527 runs in 40 IPL matches, he’s a strong option to maintain balance in the middle order if Rutherford is unavailable.
