The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has penalized a few cricketers, including Aamer Jamal, for conduct code violations. Word on the street in Pakistan is that Jamal got slapped with a PKR 1.3 million fine for sporting a cap with a political message during an interview on the field.
Apparently, the 28-year-old wore a cap with 804 on it in the first Test against England last October.
The number 804 is supposedly a shout-out to Imran Khan, the former Pakistan captain and Prime Minister, who’s currently serving time in jail.
Rumor has it that 804 is Imran’s prison number.
Also, Salman Agha, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, and Abbas Afridi are being fined PKR 500,000 each for being late to the team hotel during their South Africa tour, breaking curfew rules.
The Pakistan team took heat after getting knocked out early from the Champions Trophy 2025. The team, led by Mohammad Rizwan, couldn’t win a single game and got crushed by India and New Zealand.
After that ICC event, the PCB cut match fees for players in the National T20 Cup. Reports say players will now get PKR 10,000 each, which is 75% less than what they made last time.
Right now, Pakistan is in New Zealand for eight white-ball games, including five T20Is and three ODIs.
The T20I team, led by Agha, didn’t start well, with New Zealand crushing them by nine wickets in Christchurch on Sunday. Pakistan got bowled out for 91, with Jacob Duffy and Kyle Jamieson taking seven wickets between them.
New Zealand then chased down the score in just 10.1 overs.
