Former South African cricketer, AB de Villiers said that South Africa can take Australia in the World Test Championship Final scheduled at Lord’s later this month. It will be the first time that South Africa has reached the WTC Final, when they meet the defending champions led by Pat Cummins.
South Africa made it to the final, having beaten Sri Lanka and Pakistan all at home, whereas India was ousted after losing two series in a row against New Zealand and Australia. Indian fans were quite crushed and there were several changes in coaches and players in the aftermath.
“This is a huge moment for South African cricket,” said de Villiers to Star Sports. “The whole country will support our team, and I hope we can pull it off.” He also spoke about his excitement, feeling that South Africa had the potential to pull off an upset against Australia, even though they were the favorites.
De Villiers went on to say that the Australians are very well-experienced and well-prepared, making things rather difficult for South Africa. “It won’t be easy, but I’m confident because we have a lot of players in form who are eager to prove themselves.”

Talking about the final, he said that it would be a first for many players at Lord’s, and hopes they get comfortable there quickly. The whole interview was far from quiet: “I’m looking forward to this. It’s going to be really good cricket, both teams deserve to be there.”
