Andre Russell is thinking of retiring from international cricket after the first two T20Is against Australia. Neither Cricket West Indies (CWI) nor Russell has said anything officially but the word is that he will soon hang up his boots.
The 37 year old Jamaican has had a great career with the Windies, especially in limited overs cricket. He has played 140 ODIs and T20Is combined, scoring 1,034 runs in ODIs and 1,078 in T20Is.
ESPN Cricinfo reports that Andre Russell will retire from international cricket after the first two T20Is against Australia. Both games are at Sabina Park in Jamaica, his home ground. The first T20I is on July 21 and the second on July 23. He won’t travel to St Kitts for the last three games of the series.
Thank You, DRE RUSS!🫶🏽

This series is part of Australia’s tour of the West Indies which started with a three Test series that Australia won 3-0. The T20I series starts on Sunday, July 20.
Russell had mentioned playing in the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. Now sources say he’s more focused on franchise cricket.
He’s a key player for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and plays for different KKR owned teams in franchise leagues around the world.
Russell was a big part of the Windies T20 World Cup wins in 2012 and 2016 and is known for his game winning skills. His retirement will mark the end of an era in international T20 cricket especially now that West Indies cricket is going through a tough time.
