Australia had a horror start to the 2025 World Test Championship final at Lord’s on June 11. After being asked to bat first, they were bowled out for 212 just after Tea. Kagiso Rabada was on fire, taking 5 wickets, and his mate Marco Jansen added 3 more, including the big wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head. Rabada finished with 5 for 51, Jansen 3 for 49, the lowest first innings total in a WTC final for Australia.
India held the record previously with 217 in 2021 before losing to New Zealand. Australia were a little worse off this time, despite decent scores from Steve Smith and Beau Webster who both scored half centuries.
The new opening pair of Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne started poorly, Khawaja getting out for a duck after 20 balls. Cameron Green, Travis Head and Alex Carey also struggled in this big game.
