India again demonstrated their prowess in Asian cricket to defeat their arch-rivals and claim the Asia Cup 2025. The final was held on Sunday, September 28, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, with India winning by five wickets to secure a record ninth Asia Cup title.
Pakistan went in to bat first but were bundled out for a meager 146 runs in 19.1 overs. The best bowling display was by Kuldeep Yadav, who took four wickets for 30 runs. Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakaravarthy each chipped in with two wickets to ensure Pakistan never got into the game.
Chasing 147, India started badly, losing Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill for easy runs, with the scoreboard showing only 20 runs inside four overs. But Tilak Varma was the picture of maturity under pressure, scoring a brilliant 69 not out off 53 balls to anchor the innings.
Sanju Samson (24) and Shivam Dube (33) provided excellent support with quick cameos that helped keep India ahead. Rinku Singh triggered a memorable win for the Men in Blue by hitting the winning runs in the last over.

After the historic win, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to go big and announced a ₹21-crore cash award for the players and the support staff. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia made the announcement right after the winners.
“It was extraordinary victory and therefore as a part of celebrations, BCCI has announced a cash award of ₹21 crore in favour of the players and the support staff who are part of the Indian team in the Asia Cup,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI.
Even though the board didn’t announce the split of the money, Saikia did say,
“That money will be distributed and this is a big reward for our team and the Indian cricket board as well as the people of India. We are extremely proud of our cricketers and the support staff for their superb performance in Dubai.”
Along with BCCI’s reward, the Indian team will finally also be paid the actual amount of prize money of USD300,000 (around ₹2.6 crocres) for Asia Cup.
