Reports say BCCI and SLC are talking about a short tour with limited overs matches in August.
Newswire says India and Sri Lanka will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. India was supposed to tour Bangladesh for a limited overs series in August. But since Bangladesh supported Pakistan during the recent attacks on India, that series has been moved to September 2026.
India’s August schedule is free and BCCI wants a short series. LPL which usually happens in July and August has been moved so Sri Lanka’s August schedule is also free.
Neither of the two boards have plans for August so Newswire says they are talking about a short series and India might go to Sri Lanka.
Dates are not confirmed but it will be in mid August as Sri Lanka is touring Zimbabwe from August 29.
India and Sri Lanka last played in July 2024. That series was Gautam Gambhir’s first as India’s head coach. India won the T20I series but Sri Lanka won the ODIs.
This is good news for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma fans. The two players who are only playing 50 overs cricket will be back on the field sooner than fans thought. After the Bangladesh series was moved Virat and Rohit were not expected to play again until October when India tours Australia for a limited overs series. Now fans might get to see them play in August.
