The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will elect its new president on September 28, 2025 during its 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai. The election of office-bearers is the main agenda for the meeting which starts at 11:30 am at the BCCI headquarters.
Devajit Saikia, the Secretary, told the state associations that elections will be held for several key positions. These include President, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer. The AGM will also see the election of representatives from the General Body and the Indian Cricketers’ Association.
Besides these key posts, the agenda includes election of two members to the IPL Governing Council and one representative from the Indian Cricketers’ Association. The Women’s Premier League Committee will also have elections. Other important tasks at the AGM are to name the Ombudsman and Ethics Officer and form the Standing Committee, Cricket Committee and Umpires’ Committee.
Before the AGM, the BCCI leadership will have a meeting to discuss and decide on the candidates. While the current Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer will continue in their roles, the President and Vice-President will require elections.
The race for the top positions is still open. As for the President, no decision has been taken yet. A former player and a cricket administrator are being considered. Rajeev Shukla, the current Vice-President, is a strong contender. Sources say there are three possibilities – he might stay as Vice-President, move up to BCCI President or take over as IPL Chairman. Right now he is most likely to continue in his current role but there is 60-40 chance he could become president.
Anirudh Choudhury who was the BCCI treasurer earlier might return to the IPL Governing Council. Avishek Dalmiya from Bengal who is currently on the IPL Governing Council is also in the running. The final decision will depend on what is discussed at the leadership meeting.
