There’s some news about IPL 2025. According to ESPNCricinfo, the BCCI has picked Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad as potential venues to finish the season, but this will only happen if the tournament restarts in May after being paused.
The IPL was put on hold on May 9 due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Initially, the BCCI thought about pausing things for a week, but if things get worse, they might have to move the tournament outside of India. Still, it looks like they want to keep the last 16 matches in India, focusing on southern cities.
Cricinfo’s report mentions that BCCI officials are being careful. If the situation doesn’t improve, the tournament may happen later this year. There’s also a worry about whether international players will come back if it reopens in May since many have gone home due to the political issues.
Out of the three cities, RCB is the only team still in the playoff hunt. Both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings are already out, so if the tournament continues in those three places, RCB might benefit from having home games. But all of this will only unfold if things get better in India soon.
