Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue Will Be Playing in the Second Four-day Match Between India A and England Lions, Starting on June 6 in Northampton. This will keep the players in shape for the forthcoming five-match Test series against India. Woakes is coming back from an ankle injury, having recently taken six wickets for Warwickshire. Tongue also recently played for England in a Test against Zimbabwe.
According to Telegraph Sport, fast bowler Gus Atkinson will be out for at least the first Test after sustaining a hamstring injury in the Zimbabwe game, where he could only bowl six overs. Mark Wood will be out of the entire series against India following a knee injury, and Jofra Archer might not be ready for the first two Tests owing to a thumb injury.
Along with Woakes and Tongue, Brydon Carse, Matthew Potts, and Sam Cook remain in contention for the first Test, which becomes a reality from June 20th at Headingley, Leeds. Shoaib Bashir will, however, continue as the lead spinner for the home side. Ben Stokes was a possibility to be named in the England Lions side but failed to make the 13-man squad announced on June 4.

On the Indian side, KL Rahul has landed in the UK; he would likely feature against the England Lions in preparation for the series. On the other hand, Test captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will give this match a miss as they will be flying out with the entire squad on Friday.
