Cricket has fans as its central component, as the fans’ vigor and love for the sport animate the whole. They not only crowd the arenas but also harbor the unvoiced expectation of taking home a memory, something that will linger even after the last ball bowled.
The fans’ dream is pretty much coming true when they see the ball flying over the fence; every one of them wants to grab the ball and go home, and that wish is very close to reality. The Australian cricket board has a new rule planned that would put the fans’ excitement level through the roof in the next BBL season.
Cricket Australia Innovates Fans-Centered Changes
The very moment a player hits a six and the ball goes into the audience, it is almost like the ladies and gentlemen there so to speak the hopes of memory collection are conveyed through their cheers. Still, that was against cricket’s ‘rules,’ but Cricket Australia is dismantling those in the forthcoming BBL and WBBL. They have organized a special treat for the spectators in the coming season.
In an important shift, Cricket Australia is going to change the game in the sense that fans will be allowed to take the ball with them. In the upcoming BBL and WBBL, if the ball is caught in the crowd or rolls over the boundary in the first over of each inning, the audience will be allowed to take it away.

‘Westpac Keep the Ball’ is the name of the daring undertaking, an adventure that is subsidized by CA’s financial partner, Westpac. To guarantee that the game goes on without interruption, a specially branded ball will be used to start each inning and the umpires will have spare balls ready to step in at any moment.
A Step Closer To The Game For Fans
It is a well-known fact that the fans have always played a crucial role in the game from the very beginning, and now there is a moment coming up Cricket Australia to bring them closer. Offering a little bit of background to the project, Alistair Dobson, the executive general manager of CA said, the fan experience is going to be uplifted with this move.
“Player connection drives the Big Bash Leagues, and this initiative is a further proof of our dedication to the development of fan-focused innovation. Building ‘Keep the Ball’ together with Westpac has been a priority since they became our partners, and we thank them for their support in making this incredible moment happen,” Dobson said in a statement.
This year’s T20 extravaganza is back on the Australian ground as the Women’s Big Bash League will start its action on November 9. Then, the Big Bash League will follow from December 14. The fans are really excited for the new experience of the upcoming tournaments.
