Deepak Chahar has had a tough time with injuries over the years, and it seems like just when things are looking up, he gets sidelined again. In the 2025 season, after teaming up with Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah, he hurt himself while bowling against the Punjab Kings. He managed to bowl his four overs after taping up his leg, but then he left the field.
Chahar’s had this injury issue many times before, especially during his time with CSK, starting in 2018 when he mostly did well despite some minor injuries. But things really went downhill in 2022 when he missed the IPL due to a quadricep injury. After that, he had two stress fractures in his back and spent 18 months in rehab over the last few years.
2022 was a rough year for him as an international player. It kicked off in February during a T20I against the West Indies when he tore his quadricep, which ruled him out of that series and also forced him to skip the one against Sri Lanka. He went to the NCA for rehab and seemed ready for the IPL, but then he hurt his back during recovery and missed the season.

After a long break, Chahar returned for the Zimbabwe series in August and was included in the Asia Cup squad, but just before an ODI against South Africa, he twisted his ankle, pushing back his comeback yet again. He dealt with another back injury soon after, and after a tough 2024 season filled with injuries, CSK let him go.
He came back fitter for MI in the 2025 season and played all 14 games, which was great to see. However, after his recent injury against Punjab Kings, there are worries about whether he’ll be available for the IPL 2025 playoffs, given his long history with injuries.
