On Tuesday, August 12, 22-year-old Dewald Brevis made a big impact in international cricket. He scored a century off 41 balls against South Africa in a Twenty20 International (T20I) match at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin.
Brevis is now the youngest South African to score a century in T20I cricket. He also scored the second fastest century for South Africa in men’s T20I matches.

Brevis really put the pressure on the Australian bowlers, what a way to get your first international century. The right handed batsman who plays for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) hit 8 sixes and 9 fours in his century.
Only David Miller has scored a T20I century in fewer balls for South Africa. Miller scored a century off 35 balls against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom in 2017.
South Africa didn’t start well and were 57/3 at one stage. Brevis made the most of the opportunity to be a hero. There were still many overs left and he could make history. He and Tristan Stubbs added 126 runs together and got South Africa back in the game.
