As the Delhi Premier League (DPL) approaches its second season, the excitement is building. The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has confirmed that two new teams will be added to the league this year.
The tournament will start in the last week of July and the player auction will be on July 5, 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Last year DPL had 6 teams. This year 8 teams will be competing for the title. Outer Delhi Warriors and New Delhi Tigers are the two new teams joining North Delhi Strikers, Central Delhi Kings, Purani Dilli, West Delhi Lions, East Delhi Riders and South Delhi Superstarz.
With more teams and more talent, this season should be more competitive and fun to watch.
Before the auction each franchise can retain one player from their old squad. This allows teams to keep a core and plan their auction strategy around a key player. Some big names have been retained.
The Mega Auction will be on July 5, 10 AM IST and will be live on FanCode. Each team will have INR 1.5 crore to spend. Teams can build their squad from scratch and use one Right-to-Match (RTM) card.

Only players registered with DDCA can be in the auction. Though teams can retain up to 4 players, each franchise has chosen to retain only one so far, probably to have options during the auction.
