The Delhi Premier League (DPL) is coming back for its second edition, starting August 2. The women’s competition will be held between August 17 and August 24.
This season, there will be eight men’s teams and four women’s teams competing and the league is really trying to keep things fair, give new players a chance, and make it fun for the fans.
The tournament will kick off with a ceremony, followed by the first men’s game. The final is scheduled for August 31 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate, or something unexpected happens, September 1 is set aside as a reserve day for the men’s final.
The eight men’s teams have been divided into two groups of four. Group A includes Outer Delhi Warriors, Central Delhi Kings, New Delhi Tigers, and North Delhi Strikers. Group B includes West Delhi Lions, East Delhi Riders, South Delhi Superstarz, and Purani Dilli 6.
In the men’s tournament, there will be a total of 40 games. Each team will play 10 games. The top four teams will move on to the playoffs. The two best teams will play each other in Qualifier 1, and the winner goes straight to the final. The third and fourth-place teams will play in the Eliminator, and the loser is out. The winner of the Eliminator will then play the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2. The winner of that game will get the last spot in the final, where they’ll face the winner of Qualifier 1.

The women’s competition will have four teams, and they’ll play a total of six games in a round-robin format. The top two teams will then compete in the final.
DDCA President Rohan Jaitley said that the second season of DPL is a fresh start for local cricket in Delhi. With the round-robin format and two new men’s teams, the competition will be better than ever. The women’s league is also gaining popularity and will be a place for female cricketers in Delhi to show what they can do. He also said that their goal is to have a great league that lasts and lets Delhi’s players shine, and they are happy with the base that’s being built with DPL.
