Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have named Dwayne Bravo as their head coach for the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL), starting a new chapter for the most successful franchise in the tournament. Bravo takes over from Phil Simmons who is now the head coach of the Bangladesh men’s national team.
Bravo is no stranger to the CPL having been involved since 2013. He’s played 107 matches over 11 seasons and taken 129 wickets, stayed with TKR for 9 of those seasons and won 4 titles. He played his 2021 season with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots where he led the team to their first championship.
“It’s an honor to be given the chance to coach TKR, a team that means a lot to me,” Bravo posted on social media. He also thanked Phil Simmons for his hard work over the years and looking forward to this new challenge with his coaching staff.

Bravo’s coaching career is on the rise. Last year he was the head coach of Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 which is another team under the Knight Riders group. He was also a mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2025 IPL and bowling consultant for Chennai Super Kings in 2023 and 2024 after retiring from IPL in 2022.
Internationally Bravo was the bowling consultant for Afghanistan during the 2024 T20 World Cup where they made it to the semi-finals only to be knocked out by South Africa.
TKR hopes Bravo’s knowledge and leadership can help them bounce back after a mixed result in the 2024 CPL where they finished 3rd and lost to Barbados Royals in the Eliminator.

Even with his new coaching role Bravo isn’t hanging up his boots just yet. The 40-year-old will play alongside Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard for the West Indies Champions in the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) starting in England on July 18. They will play their first match against South Africa Champions at Edgbaston on July 19. Last year they made it to the semi-finals before being knocked out by Pakistan.
