Joe Root receives his MBE and he shares his futuristic approach to cricket as well as the ongoing T20 World Cup at his Investiture ceremony.
Joe Root has finally received his MBE for his great contribution to the field of cricket where he has shown great zeal and sportsmanship. He was made a member of the Order of the British Empire(MBE) by Princess Anne at Windsor Castle on Wednesday 12 June for his great contribution to cricket.
The 33-year-old cricketer has already been recognized and awarded with the honor in the 2020 New Year’s Honours list, but couldn’t receive it as planned later that year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But now he has finally received what he is worth.
What is MBE?
MBE- Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) is Awarded for an outstanding achievement or service to the community. This award is presented to British nationals, citizens of commonwealth countries, and UK citizens for their notable achievements.

Joseph Edward Root, born on December 30, 1990, in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, is a prominent cricketer known for his right-handed batting and right-arm off-break bowling. He made his test debut in December 2012 and has been a keen player for England since then.
Root, who previously captained the England team, debuted on the international stage in 2012 against India. Since then, he’s amassed a staggering 19,151 runs across all formats, including 140 Tests, 171 ODIs, and 32 T20Is. He has been an outstanding player and has an impressive cricket career across various formats.
While receiving the award this cricketing maestro has expressed his desire to give back to the sport that has given him so much.
Joe Root and Investiture Ceremony: Interview
While interviewing after the investiture ceremony, the cricketer seemed pretty happy and excited at the same moment. He expressed his desire to work and play for England as long as he could and also expressed his views on the budding players and the ongoing T20 World Cup.
“When you have a lot of experience like I do, you feel a responsibility to give back,” Root said. “I want to encourage young boys and girls to take up cricket, not just for the on-field opportunities, but also for the off-field experiences it offers,” he added.
Talking about the World Cup he said, that Jos has been his good friend and he is a good player so there is no question about his captaincy as England won the 2022 World Cup under the same leadership, he believes in Jos he added.
Giving a message to the young players and cricketers that they should understand that it’s a game of failure, elaborating root said-
“It sounds quite a negative thing, but cricket is a game of failure. And I think being able to embrace failure to understand that it’s part and parcel of that sport, that gives you opportunities to learn and grow and get better,”
