BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia is planning to catch up with Gautam Gambhir, the head coach for the Indian men’s cricket team, and the chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, this week. They’re scheduled to meet during an IPL 2025 match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati. Typically, the cricket board releases player contracts before the IPL season kicks off, but this time, we’ve only seen the contracts for the women’s team so far.
According to Dainik Jagran, the hold-up in announcing the central contracts seems to be related to Gambhir being unavailable for talks because of personal stuff. Sources have told the publication that someone close to a key decision-maker at BCCI has already made some phone inquiries about these contracts with the team management and the chief selector.
It looks like there’s some disagreement among the decision-makers regarding the status of several players, so they’re hoping to sort things out in their meeting on March 30. It’s possible we’ll see some big changes in the contracts that could hint at what’s next for some of India’s top players in the international scene.

The BCCI is also thinking about shaking things up with the support staff, which currently consists of Gambhir as the head coach, Morne Morkel as the bowling coach, and a couple of assistant coaches, Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate. Plus, there’s T Dilip managing the fielding. The team also has training associates like Raghavendra, Dayanand Garani, and a few support staff members like physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain and masseurs Arun Kanade, Chetan Kumar, and Rajeev Kumar.
While some of the newer additions to the team will stay on board, it sounds like there might be a few changes for others who have been around for a while. T Dilip, for instance, has been there for over three years, and he might be one of those let go. It seems the plan is to trim down the staff and possibly bring in a few fresh faces.
