The Gujarat Titans, who have been sitting atop the table, began training on Sunday, May 11, for the rest of IPL 2025. As reported by the Times of India, the team, under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, got straight to work at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. “Yes, we have started training. The boys looked sharp, and we are ready to go,” the GT official said.
Many news portals reported that the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council have instructed all ten franchises to gear their squads up for the remaining matches of IPL 2025 which is expected to resume sometime next week after a one-week break from May 9.
What we are aware of is that all the Titans players joined the training on Sunday except for Jos Buttler and Gerald Coetzee. The official said, “Our entire squad stuck around. Only Jos and Gerald, but they will come back as needed.”
Before Friday when the league was put on hold, GT was having a good season. GT became the first IPL team to have all of their top three batters-Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler– having amassed 500 runs each. Three GT bowlers, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and R Sai Kishore, are also in the top ten wicket-takers, with Krishna leading the pack with 20 wickets from 11 games.
In IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans has won 8 of the 11 matches, earning 16 points and taking the top spot. If they win at least one of their remaining three league games, they will be assured of entering the playoffs for the third time in four seasons. Their last game against Mumbai Indians ended with a three-wicket win for GT on May 6.
