The IPL and the PSL were both suspended in view of heightening tensions between India and Pakistan on the 7th and 8th of May. Some calming has come in since, and therefore, the leagues look set to resume on May 17. This means that both the leagues will be running side by side, with the PSL final scheduled on May 25 while the IPL goes on till June 3. Currently, the issue of overseas players not being able to make themselves available for the leagues is troubling them.
To address these issues, the BCCI has come up with a temporary replacement policy wherein the franchise is allowed to sign a new player to replace one who might not return to India or who opts for an early exit.

The replacement players cannot, however, be retained for next season but they are good enough to fill up the gaps for now. To date, Mustafizur Rahman, William O’Rourke, Kusal Mendis, and Kyle Jamieson are known replacements. Kusal Mendis and Kyle Jamieson were associated with the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL, but they chose to fly back to India instead of staying on in Pakistan.
There are also apprehensions about other foreigners wanting to return to Pakistan due to safety reasons, and many would opt for IPL if given a choice. They surely won’t be penalized like Corbin Bosch was, as the contracts are supposed to cease functioning on May 18, which was the initial final date.
