Babar Azam, the former Pakistan captain, is now one of the highest paid players in Big Bash League (BBL) after signing with Sydney Sixers. He’s getting paid more than the base price in the Platinum category.
This will be his first time playing in BBL and Sixers are excited to have him for the season. Reports say Sixers signed Babar in the Platinum category for almost PKR 10 crore, which is above the Platinum base price of PKR 7.75 crore.
At 30, Babar has made a name for himself in cricket, scoring over 10,000 runs in international matches. He was the captain of Pakistan team from 2019 to 2024 and led them to semi-finals of 2021 T20 World Cup and final of 2022.
He is known for staying calm under pressure and has been among the best batters in ODIs and T20Is. Babar was ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year in 2021 and 2022 and ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year in 2022. He made a record by reaching 5,000 ODI runs in just 97 innings.

Babar has T20 experience of over 11,000 runs and has played in big leagues like Pakistan Super League and Caribbean Premier League.
This is Babar’s BBL debut and he will play throughout the season, including the finals, which is great news for Sixers and their championship hopes. BBL will start from December 14 this year.
