KL Rahul has always been a team player, willing to give way for a colleague and take up a different role for the betterment of the team. He has never been pushy regarding any position for himself, always stating that it is better to do what the team needs from him.
During his interview with Sky Sports Cricket, Rahul said, “If you look at my career, I haven’t really had a say in it. I’m not much of a guy who would go to the selectors or even the captain to say what I want to do.” He said that he always wants to be a part of the team and take whatever challenges come his way.
On the recent Indian Test woes, Rahul admitted the batting line-up needed an upgrade. The team recently lost the longest standing home series after being swept by New Zealand last year, and also lost the Border-Gavaskar in Australia, missing a chance to play in the World Test Championship final.
“In the last few Test series, we should have batted better. Losing three Tests at home is the toughest thing, especially when you know the conditions well. New Zealand made it difficult for us to score runs as they kept on pressuring us, leading to a few bad shot choices,” he said.

“There was some spin in the wicket, but they somehow found a way to keep on pressuring us. If we had batted really well, we could have done much better against New Zealand. We kept repeating our mistakes in Australia and failing to seize the important moments in those games,” he added.
