India and England are starting their first Test match in a five-match series at Headingley, Leeds. The match began on June 20 and Day 1 was great for Team India even though Shubman Gill lost the toss. India had a good day, finishing with 359 for 3 in 85 overs after being asked to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a century, his first in England, and Shubman Gill, in his first Test as captain, was not out on 127 when play stopped. Rishabh Pant was batting with him.
Looking ahead to Day 2, the weather doesn’t look good. Rain is expected to play spoilsport, maybe even wash out the entire day. According to Accuweather, Saturday (June 21) will see showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. Morning will be 29°C but 86% chance of rain and 34% chance of storms. Rain could be heavy with warnings of flooding, hail and winds up to 48 km/h.

There’s even a Yellow Warning for Thunderstorms from 3 PM on Saturday to 4 AM on Sunday. Evening will be 20°C but 88% chance of rain. We could see more showers and even a stronger storm with 10.2 mm of rain predicted. Sky will be mostly cloudy and humidity will be 81%. Given all this, Day 2 of the Test might get disrupted or even called off due to rain.
