The IPL 2026 retentions along with the remaining purses for all the franchises have been revealed. It appears that the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are together with their most of the previous season’s players.
Nevertheless, among the most successful franchises are the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) that have let go a majority of their IPL 2025 players, to make a sweeping change for the IPL 2026 auction.
Now, let us find out which teams have the largest purses post IPL 2026 retentions.
Teams With The Highest Purse Ahead of The IPL 2026 Auction
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
The squad that had won their third IPL title a year back has now got rid of most of the team members before the IPL 2026. A disappointing performance because of the poor form of the main players and a wrong decision to part with the IPL 2024 winning captain Shreyas Iyer have led the franchise to the point where they now have to start developing their core from scratch.
But after getting rid of 13 players in their side made up of stars where the vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer and the veteran all-rounder Andre Russell, who were included in the release list of KKR, quite handy and unexpected, will be the KKR team that enters the IPL 2026 auction laden with a huge purse of INR 64.3 crore.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
The franchise of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has also released the maximum of its purse after IPL 2026 retentions. The franchise that has controlled the league almost every year by winning five championships and making 12 playoff appearances in total has also gone through a disastrous season in IPL 2025.
After their very first last-place finish in the season, they parted ways with 10 players in total, and among the most unexpected decisions were Rachin Ravindra and Matheesha Pathirana. CSK will arrive at the auction room with a budget of INR 43.4 crore, which is the second-highest among all teams at the IPL 2026 auction, after the Knights.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team had experienced the same misfortune as the Men in Purple in the previous season. Their dynamic batting style did not yield similar returns in IPL 2025, and thus, the team famous for scoring 250-plus lost games more than won, and ended the season placed 6th.
The re-signed players from IPL 2026 the Orange Army, like in the case of previous years, would look for the squad’s revival in the mini auction. Thus they have already offloaded their INR 10 crore buy Mohammed Shami, who had a poor comeback season, to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The 2016 IPL champions will need to take a very bold step at the auction table to distribute their massive budget of 25.5 crore INR.
