Pacer Jacob Duffy has been in the news for joining the New Zealand squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series against Pakistan and South Africa, which is set to begin in Lahore on February 8.
At 30, he impressed everyone during the recent white-ball series against Sri Lanka, picking up 12 wickets in all five white-ball matches and being named Player of the T20I series.
The right-arm pacer is packing his bags for Pakistan on Monday evening with the Black Caps ODI squad. In 10 ODIs, Duffy has managed to collect 18 wickets, averaging 25.94 with the economy of 6.25.
According to coach Gary Stead, Duffy not only adds depth to the pace-bowling department but is also the specific cover for Lockie Ferguson, who is playing in the ILT20.
Next, New Zealand plays Pakistan in the first match of the ODI tri-series in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on February 8, before meeting South Africa at the same venue on February 10, with a possible final in Karachi on February 14.
New Zealand will be playing then on February 16 their first warm-up match against Afghanistan for the Champions Trophy and the next tournament’s opening match against Pakistan on February 19, both of which will be hosted in Karachi.
They will later travel to Rawalpindi for the second Group A match against Bangladesh on February 24. After that, they will go to Dubai for the game against India on March 2, as India is not playing any of their Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan since they have not been granted clearance from the government to travel.
