Another setback for Delhi Capitals, as Jake Fraser-McGurk from Australia has withdrawn from joining the team after the interim break. The 18th season of IPL gets restarting on May 17 after a week off due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. According to ESPN, Fraser-McGurk would be the second overseas player to withdraw from the IPL 2025 onward after Jamie Overton of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). DC bought Fraser-McGurk for INR 9 crore, but he does not want to come back to the team now.
The 23-year-old right-handed batter was a key player toward the end of IPL 2024 but in going through a bad patch this season, had been dropped halfway through IPL. This season, Fraser-McGurk has played six matches and scored just 55 runs at a strike rate of 105.77 and an average of 9.17. Overall, he has played 15 IPL matches, scoring 385 runs at a strike rate of 199.48 and an average of 25.67.
