Jasprit Bumrah who was missed by every indian fan as soon as the squad for the ICC champions trophy was revealed. The star Indian pacer congratulated the team for securing a historic third ICC Champions Trophy by beating New Zealand by 4 wickets in Dubai on Sunday.
Bumrah had turned up during the campaign that he presented at the venue for India’s group-stage Pakistan game, but not as a player.
On Instagram, Bumrah posted a congratulatory note for the team’s outstanding accomplishment. His post was captioned saying, “Played like true champions! Congratulations to the entire team on a wonderful tournament and a well deserved win!”
The Indian team was concerned entering the event about the injuries that ruled the pacer out of the tournament. But by a great victory over New Zealand, Rohit Sharma’s side came through in the end to take their long third championship.
The paceman suffered an injury in the first innings of the Sydney Test, stifling his ability to bowl in the last innings as well after a strong effort in the just-finished Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. Since that time, the Indian Cricket Board has sought to hasten his rehabilitation so that he can be judged in the Champions Trophy; eventually, however, it was determined he will be ruled out.
A Times of India article suggests that the pacer could even sit out the first few weeks of the next Indian Premier League concerning Bumrah’s return.
Across all three formats, the pacer has developed into an invaluable asset for the Indian team and is also arguably one of the top bowlers in the world today.
Along with the England Test tour that follows, the Indian team management will hope Bumrah can return to fitness for the IPL.
