Kagiso Rabada, South Africa’s main fast bowler, thinks it’s time to put the excitement of winning the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia behind them. The two teams are now gearing up for six shorter games starting on Sunday in Darwin.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Rabada agreed it was a big deal. But he said let’s focus on the T20Is and ODIs coming up. “It was special and I’ve talked about it a lot,” Rabada said. “I think it’s time to move on. We will always remember it as a team and South Africa will too. But now it’s time to move forward.
The games between Australia and South Africa have been competitive in the last few years and Rabada is looking forward to more of that. “The cricket is always tough and good,” he said. “Whenever we play Australia they always make us play our best because they challenge us. And I think we enjoy that.”
Rabada is one of the older players in the South African bowling unit now. He wants to guide the younger fast bowlers like Kwena Maphaka as they get experience in international cricket. Yes, I want to do that for many of the players, Rabada said. I feel like it’s my duty to really look after them. But I think he will also pick up things from what he goes through himself. We’re just there to listen and advise.
The Australia tour includes three T20Is and three ODIs. It will be the first time for several key players like Rabada, Bavuma and Aiden Markram to play since the WTC final. After not playing in the Test and series in Zimbabwe, these players will now play against a strong Australia team.

The series is an opportunity for South Africa to test themselves in the shorter formats after their success in Test cricket. They will try to keep their winning mentality against a tough Australia team.So the series is here and we can expect good cricket and tough competition between two of the best teams. Rabada’s leadership and the return of the key players sets the scene for a good contest. This series will test South Africa’s depth and flexibility as they adapt to the different demands of T20 and ODI cricket.
With Rabada at the helm South Africa is ready to take on the challenge and make a statement in the white ball series. It’s going to be tough. Everyone wants to see who will come out on top.
