KL Rahul a New Hunt for the RCB Maiden Trophy Captain in IPL 2025
KL Rahul is expected to replace Faf du plessis as a skipper and turn to its old franchise as a new captain. As per the reports Rahul is ending his captaincy with the LSG after last year’s failure and disrespect by the Lucknow Super Giants owner.
Rahul has been leading the giants since its appearance in the IPL, from 2022 and has led it to two playoffs in two of three seasons it played.but unfortunately the third season in 2024 didn’t go well for the team as it finished at the seventh spot on the points table. Which followed a heated discussion and argument with the Lucknow owner Sanjiv Goenka after the loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024.
As per reports the Captain and owner are still not on good terms and tensions remain high between the two, so citing these differences and last year insult it could be assumed that KL Rahul could seek another captainship and move to the former team Royal Challenger Bangaluru as a captain.
Given Faf du Plessis’ advancing years, it seems unlikely that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will retain him as captain long-term. The franchise might be exploring options for a younger, more enduring leader. A potential internal candidate is the Karnataka-born wicketkeeper-batter, who could bring fresh energy to the role.
