All ready to miss a few matches for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 is star Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul. Rumor has it the 32-year-old right-handed hitter will have his first baby in the summer of 2025; depending on the expected date of delivery, he could miss a game or two to be with his wife at the time of his child’s birth.
Bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs14 crore in IPL 2025 mega auctions, Rahul has thus far featured for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.
The former captain of PBKS and LSG has scored 4683 runs in 132 IPL games to date, helped by 4 centuries and 37 half centuries.
Despite being their top run scorer in IPL 2024, LSG let him go horribly before the IPL 2025 mega auctions.
Rahul, who played a major role in India’s Champions Trophy 2025 championship victory, is also vying to be the next captain of Delhi Capitals.
The new captain will be revealed by the franchise any time now.
Though the 27-year-old left-handed stumper captained Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, he was not retained by the Delhi-based franchise before the IPL 2025 great auctions.
Lucknow Super Giants paid Rs 27 crore for Pant in the mega auction of IPL 2025 and named him the new LSG captain in January 2025.
Following last year’s mega auctions in which LSG snapped him for Rs 27 crore, Pant is the most expensive IPL player in history.
Rahul will be attending the DC camp in Vizag.
Delhi Capitals will have a brief training-cum-simulation camp in Delhi just before departing to Visakhapatnam for their first two games, according to a Monday PTI story. On March 17 and 18, Visakhapatnam will see Akshar, Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, South Africa’s Tristan Stubbs, Australian Jake Fraser McGurk, and Mitchell Starc attending the camp.
