Seems like the fate is after the Nepalese cricketer sandeep lamichhane, as yet again after being proven innocent of the previous rape case, he is denied the US visa and is likely to miss the Upcoming T20 World Cup.
Nepali cricket fans face disappointment as star spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was denied a visa by the US embassy. This throws his participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the West Indies and the US, into question.
Why He is Denied of the US Visa?
Nepali cricket sensation Sandeep Lamichhane went through a rollercoaster legal battle recently. In December 2023, the Kathmandu District Court declared him guilty of rape after a lengthy trial. But, the Patan High Court later overturned this decision due to lack of evidence. Lamichhane, who had always claimed he was innocent, was finally cleared of all charges.
The rape case against him posed a ban from domestic and international matches and left the player suffering in misery. But even after the final clearance and free to go, his visa was denied by the US embassy yet again.
“X” and Chances of Missing the Upcoming T20 World Cup
Nepalese cricket star Sandeep Lamichhane suffered a visa setback, raising concerns about his participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup hosted by the USA and the West Indies. Lamichhane shared on social media that the US Embassy turned down his visa, mentioning it wasn’t the first time he’d encountered such a problem, referring to a past rejection for the CPL visa.
And the @USEmbassyNepal did it again what they did back in 2019, they denied my Visa for the T-20 World Cup happening in USA and West Indies. Unfortunate. I am sorry to all the well wishers of Nepal Cricket. @USAmbNepal @CricketNep. https://t.co/xdBhaY6G91

Talking about the denial of visa, the spinner took to his “X” account and posted – “And the @USEmbassyNepal did it again what they did back in 2019, they denied my Visa for the T-20 World Cup happening in the USA and West Indies. Unfortunate. I am sorry to all the well-wishers of Nepal Cricket”
T20 World Cup and Sandeep Lamichhane
At first, Nepal didn’t pick Sandeep for the T20 World Cup team. This was because he faced jail time and needed approval from the International Cricket Council (ICC). Luckily, the court cleared him of the rape charges.
After he was accused, he had to get approval from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to play. But once the court said he was innocent, everyone thought Nepal would pick him for the team. While he was facing charges, he couldn’t play cricket for Nepal or any other team. But now that the court cleared him, he was ready to join the squad.
But seems like fate has different plans for the spinner and he is yet again in trouble as he was denied the US visa, which is likely to prevent him from joining the Nepal squad in the T20 World Cup 2024.

With the tournament approaching and the team set to travel soon, Lamichhane’s visa rejection casts a shadow over Nepal’s World Cup aspirations.
