Mitchell Starc, the talented Australian fast bowler, is currently playing for the Delhi Capitals in the ongoing 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). On April 10, he took the field against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Leading the bowling for his side, which is captained by Axar Patel, Starc had a rough outing. In his three overs, he gave away 35 runs. Things went downhill for him during the third over of RCB’s innings when he faced a tough challenge from Phil Salt and Virat Kohli, who collectively took him for 30 runs. This performance placed him in a rather unfortunate category, marking him as only the second bowler in Delhi Capitals’ history to concede 30 or more runs in a single over.
The first bowler to enter this exclusive list for the Delhi franchise was Anrich Nortje from South Africa, who is now with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2025 IPL season. Last year, Nortje had a tough time against the Mumbai Indians when he was hit for 32 runs in the final over by Romario Shepherd, an all-rounder who made a mark that day.
Back to the game on Thursday, things didn’t start well for Starc. Salt made his intentions clear right away, hitting Starc for a six on the very first ball of his second over. Not stopping there, Salt went on to smash three consecutive fours, with the third one coming off a no ball. During the free hit that followed, Salt struck another six, and then took a single on the fifth ball. On the last delivery of that over, Virat Kohli stepped in and added to the chaos by scoring a four, bringing the total for that over to a staggering 30 runs.
Here is the list of **Most Runs Scored in One Over in IPL History**.

Despite this setback, Starc had been one of DC’s standout bowlers during the first matches of IPL 2025. This outing was a stark contrast, as it was the first time in four games that he walked off the field without taking a wicket. Even so, Delhi Capitals managed to keep the Royal Challengers to a score of 163 for 7.
Chasing down a target of 164 runs in Bengaluru might not have seemed daunting at first, but it quickly turned into a struggle for Delhi when they lost three wickets for just 30 runs in a mere 4.3 overs. KL Rahul then stepped up to the plate and put together a partnership with Axar Patel, adding 28 runs for the fourth wicket. After Patel was dismissed, Rahul teamed up with Tristan Stubbs, creating an impressive unbeaten partnership of 111 runs for the fifth wicket. During his time at the crease, Rahul showed his skill and power, managing to score 93 runs off 53 balls, which included 7 fours and 6 sixes. It was a crucial innings that helped stabilize the team in a challenging situation.
