Mitchell Starc is set to play his 100th Test in the third match against the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, starting Saturday, July 12. It’s a big deal for him as he’s also close to 400 Test wickets.
The Caribbean tour was originally two Tests but a third was added later. Because of that he’ll reach this personal milestone in Kingston, away from his family rather than at home during the first Ashes Test.
Starc’s wife Alyssa Healy, who captains the Australian Women’s team, can’t be in Jamaica to see it in person. But she’s proud of what he’s done and wants him to get the five wickets to reach 400 in this game.
Healy said on the Willow Talk Podcast she doesn’t think Starc cares where he plays the game. She wants him to achieve this goal and then go to the Ashes as a legend.
Starc will have Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon with him as usual. The four of them have been the main part of Australia’s bowling for the last ten years and have helped the team do well in cricket around the world.
