Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s director of cricket, Mo Bobat, is highly charged for next season after winning their first IPL title. He told his players to carry forward this winning habit as they celebrated a very close win against Punjab Kings by just six runs. This team usually runs after the title for 18 years and as such, is ready to back it up with another win.
In a heartfelt speech in that locker room, Bobat acknowledged Kohli for the harsh work since 2008 when the league started. He called it a special season and told the players their aggressive style of play and good vibes kept motivating the fans.
Having just retired from Test Cricket, Kohli stood on the verge of this win, nurturing it as a dream for nearly twenty years. Bobat thanked him for his leadership and determination, stressing how much it meant to them and the supporters.
Bobat would really like for his players to enjoy tonight but harness this feeling in building a winning mentality in the days ahead. He told them it was something very few teams had done winning back-to-back IPL titles, only achieved by Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians before.
He congratulated everyone in the camp for their contribution, including those who did not get into the field of play. Bobat said they faced a lot of challenges this season, including fighting through injuries and disruptions, but all pulled through to get this win. He thanked the support staff for their hard work and their commitment, as it was this team effort which got them through.
