In a thrilling contest at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) absolutely dominated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), winning by eight wickets in their IPL 2025 matchup. With a target of 172 runs set by LSG, PBKS made the chase look almost effortless, reaching 177 runs for the loss of just two wickets in a quick 16.2 overs. A huge part of this success came from the explosive batting performance of Prabhsimran Singh.
Kicking things off for PBKS, Prabhsimran didn’t waste any time taking the fight to the LSG bowlers right from the first ball. He hit a blistering half-century in only 23 balls, making it the fastest fifty in IPL history at Lucknow. His incredible innings saw him score 69 runs off just 34 balls, with nine boundaries and three sixes that completely tore through LSG’s bowling lineup. Even after losing his opening partner, Priyansh Arya, pretty early in the innings, Prabhsimran kept the pressure on, taking on both pace and spin bowlers without hesitation.
He built a solid 84-run partnership with skipper Shreyas Iyer before being dismissed in the 11th over. By the time he walked back to the dugout, PBKS was firmly in the driver’s seat, showing that they were more than capable of wrapping up the match with ease. His fearless batting made it pretty clear that PBKS had the game in hand, and they finished it with 22 balls still remaining.
Following Prabhsimran’s explosive innings, Shreyas Iyer continued to steer the ship, finishing with 52 not out off 30 balls while Nehal Wadhera chipped in with an impressive 43 runs from just 25 deliveries. Together, they formed an unbeaten partnership worth 67 runs, ensuring that PBKS cruised home without any hiccups.
Earlier, LSG had set a target of 171 runs, with Nicholas Pooran being the standout performer for them with a solid 44 runs. Ayush Badoni also contributed with 41 runs. On the bowling front for PBKS, Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 43 runs, playing a critical role in restricting LSG to their total. Overall, it was an exciting match, but PBKS clearly outplayed LSG, showing their strength and capability with both bat and ball.
