Iyer was picked up by the Punjab franchise in the IPL 2025 mega auction for a whopping Rs 26.75 crore. So far, the gamble seems to be paying off. The team has managed to mark five victories from their nine matches. Iyer’s been showing out too, with a total of 288 runs at an average of 48 and a strike rate of about 182.88.
A fan recently took to X to ask Zinta her views on Iyer as a captain and as a person. “I am happy that Shreyas has got the team. He’s really down-to-earth and an amazing captain. He’s tactical and aggressive when it comes to the game, yet remains the sweetest and most silent player.” Zinta further mentioned, getting Iyer as captain was a big deal for them, as “he was our first choice, and the whole auction was pretty much centered around him for us,” she tweeted.

Another funny exchange was when a fan tagged Zinta with a photo of her and cricket star Virat Kohli from the last match between Punjab Kings and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The fan was curious about what the two discussed. Zinta said they were exchanging pictures of their kids and remembering how fast time flies. She reminisced on how she first met Virat almost 18 years ago when he was just a up-and-coming teenage boy filled with talent. Now, he has blossomed into a star player and a doting dad.
