Before the last Test between India and England, Ravichandran Ashwin, the former Indian all-rounder, said that Jacob Bethell, the English all-rounder, is someone to watch. With English captain Ben Stokes not playing in the final Test at The Oval, Bethell might play in his place.
Ashwin said on a podcast that everyone will see a great new player in the fifth Test.I am sure he will be great. I am talking about Jacob Bethell, said the 38-year-old. He also said that he really thinks Bethell is very talented.
Ashwin praised the 21-year-old, saying he is good at batting and also bowls well with his left arm. England is leading the series 2-1. India wants to level the series by winning at The Oval.

England started the series well, winning by 5 wickets at Headingley. Then India won against England by 336 runs at Edgnaston. England won again by 22 runs at Lord’s and the fourth Test at Old Trafford was a draw. Shubman Gill, the Indian captain, has been batting very well in the series. Other experienced batsmen like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja have also been useful
But Pant will not be able to play in the fifth Test as he hurt his right foot in the Manchester Test. N Jagadeeshan will replace him.
