Virat Kohli should have got a proper send off from Test cricket, feels Ravi Shastri. Shastri shared his thoughts in a promo for a TV special on Kohli’s Test career and his captaincy during India’s tough tour of England in 2021. He even said he would have brought him back as captain after India’s poor show in Australia earlier this year.
On June 11, SonyLiv released a 30-second promo for the show “Bharat Tum Chale Chalo, Kahani 21-22 ki.” With the Indian team gearing up for a five-Test series in England later this month, the show will have the behind-the-scenes stories from India’s 2022 red-ball tour of England.
Shastri, who was India’s coach in 2022 and worked with Kohli, is sad that Kohli left Test cricket last month. He praised Kohli’s impact on the game and said he would have made him captain again after the team’s loss in Australia.

In a video shared by SonyLiv, Shastri said, “When you leave, that’s when people see how great you were. I feel sad about how he went. It could have been handled better, with more communication. If I had a say, I would have made him captain right after Australia.”
