Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally gave their fans a great last day of the league by beating Lucknow Super Giants in a nail-biting finish on Tuesday. RCB has maintained its record of not losing any away match this year, therefore making them the first franchise in the history of the IPL to never lose an away match in a season. The side played seven away matches, under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, winning all of them. Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders previously held the record, having won seven of their eight away games.
Kohli marked the day by smashing his eighth fifty of the season, surpassing the previous record of seven fifties in a season of David Warner and Shubman Gill. RCB chased 228 runs successfully-their highest chase in IPL.

It has been the third instance in which RCB finished in the top two, the only other occasions being 2011 and 2016 when they qualified for the final but again ended up losing in the final. Finishing the league stage with 19 points put RCB second to Punjab Kings, the latter making it on account of a better net run rate.
Thursday will see the first qualifier between RCB and Punjab Kings at Mullanpur in Punjab. The winner will head straight to the final while the loser is given another chance in the second qualifier, where Gujarat Titans, sitting at third place, will take on fourth-placed Mumbai Indians.
