After their loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Lucknow on Friday, the skipper of RCB, Rajat Patidar, was slapped with a fine worth Rs 24 lakh, which very well may have been the biggest fine he has ever been subjected to. This arose as RCB failed to maintain the stipulated over rate, and with it being the second offense this season, the punishment was substantially harsh.
The whole RCB team is being fined, with each player, including the impact player, obliged to the penalties going up to Rs 6 lakh or 25% of the match fee-which ever is lower. Since Patidar is nursing a hand injury, he played the role of a substitute captain. Jitesh Sharma led the side on the field, but his team lost by 42 runs, which hurt their bid to finish in the top two.
In the chase of 232 runs, RCB were bowled out for 189 in under 20 overs. Their openers seemed to have put up some resistance, with Phil Salt plundering 62 off just 32 deliveries and Virat Kohli scoring 43 off 25. Jitesh was the second-best with 24 runs off 15 balls. RCB next meet the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
