Angelo Mathews is set to retire from Test cricket after the ongoing Galle Test against Bangladesh. This all-rounder has scored 8,167 runs in 118 Tests and has 16 centuries to his name. He will definitely be one of Sri Lanka’s best Test players. He also has a chance to break a few records. Here’s what he can achieve:
1. 14 Runs From Kohli’s Home Test Record
Angelo needs 14 more runs to surpass Virat Kohli’s 4,336 runs in home Tests. Right now Mathews has 4,323 Test runs in Sri Lanka so he can easily beat the Indian player. If he scores 34 more runs he’ll also go past Geoff Boycott’s home Test runs.

3. 95 Runs From Azharuddin’s Overall Record
He’s also close to breaking former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin’s record of 15,593 international runs. Mathews needs 95 runs to go past Azharuddin in this Test. Since he plans to play limited overs cricket for Sri Lanka he might still reach this milestone later.
So Mathews has a lot to aim for in his last Test and Sri Lankan fans will be hoping he finishes off on a high.
