India ODI captain Rohit Sharma sent a special message to Sri Lankan legend Angelo Mathews as he bid adieu to Test cricket. Mathews played his last Test at Galle on June 17 against Bangladesh. Before the match, he shared a video from Rohit.
In the message, Rohit reminisced about their many battles on the cricket field, going back to their U19 days. He praised Mathews’ dedication to cricket saying, “Hey Angie, congrats on your Test career. We’ve had some great matches from our U19 days till now. You’ve served your country well and I know everyone back home is grateful for what you’ve done.”
Rohit also pointed out how rare it is for someone to have such a long and successful Test career. He wished Mathews and his family a happy retirement and said, “We’ll catch up on the other side, bro” showing the friendship that goes beyond competition.
