Pakistan’s premier batsman, Babar Azam, received some banter from England’s Sam Billings online Sam Billings made headlines by blasting the fastest 50 in the history of the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), reaching his half-century off just 19 balls while Babar made another kind of record for the slowest 50 in that same tournament with his 50 coming off 47 balls. Billings achieved this feat for the Lahore Qalandars against Quetta Gladiators, while Babar’s performance came for Peshawar Zalmi against Islamabad United.
An Instagram cricket page shared their opposite records, with Billings making sure to repost it. Meanwhile, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced that the PSL would restart on May 17, with the final scheduled for May 25. He tweeted, “PSL X picks up from where it left off. 6 teams, 0 fear. Get ready for 8 thrilling matches starting May 17, leading up to the Grand Final on May 25. Best of luck to all the teams!”

The tournament was suspended due to tensions rising between India and Pakistan. While new schedules and venues are yet to be decided, it looks like the remaining matches will be held in Pakistan, as teams want to get the season wrapped up quickly. There were meetings lately to discuss possible dates and venues, with the availability of overseas players remaining an issue. This could disrupt team compositions as some franchises are more confident about bringing back their internationals than others.
Regarding any player shortages that may occur, the PCB could very well hold a replacement draft.
On the other hand, this update creates problems for the Bangladesh side in planning their Pakistan tour since the PSL final conflicts with a scheduled T20I match in Faisalabad. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has said that discussions concerning the tour are ongoing, for they were to play five T20Is in Faisalabad and Lahore from May 25 to June 3.
