Sanjana Ganesan, who is married to Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, thinks her husband has become a better player since their son Angad arrived. The couple got married in 2021 and welcomed their baby boy in September 2023. Sanjana shared on the ‘Moment of Silence’ podcast, “When we first held our baby in the hospital, Jasprit was playing in the Asia Cup at the time. He flew back as soon as he could. I don’t want to say it but I do think he’s been a better cricketer since Angad came along. Having a peaceful home to come back to really helps him switch off and be a dad and a husband.”
When asked about the wives of other cricketers, she said each one is unique. “They all have different personalities, just like the players on the team. It’s clear to see on the cricket field. Their wives seem to fit their needs perfectly. I might interview a player and then meet his wife later and I can just tell why they go together. It’s like yin and yang.
Sanjana also talked about her memorable interview with Bumrah after India’s T20 World Cup win against South Africa last year. She said while she enjoys interviewing him, he often tries to distract her. “After the World Cup, I was interviewing him but at some point I ran out of questions. I wrapped it up and wished him luck for the future. I love talking to him – he’s a lot of fun. He can tell when I’m trying too hard to stay in the interview mode and he’ll do silly things like smile or wink and make it hard for me to stay serious.”
She also described their relationship behind the scenes, saying he’s her “best gossip buddy”. “We’ll settle in bed with some chocolate, watch Netflix and then chat about what happened at work that day,” she added.
