Sarfaraz Khan, one of the best batsmen in domestic cricket in India, has been left out of the Indian Test team for the England tour. The 27-year-old from Mumbai made a big impact last year with a 150-run innings against New Zealand but has not seen much action at the international level.
He was part of the India A team that went to England recently and even scored 92 in one match at Canterbury but didn’t make it to the main Test squad. This has left many surprised, including former cricketer Harbhajan Singh.
Harbhajan was shocked to see Sarfaraz’s name missing from the squad but encouraged him to stay hopeful and look at Karun Nair as an example. Nair had his own struggles despite scoring a triple century against England but continued to perform in domestic cricket and made his way back into the team after seven years.

“It’s really unfortunate. I was surprised to see his name missing from the squad. But I believe he’ll bounce back stronger. He has the determination to make a comeback. My advice to him is to stay positive; your time will come. Just look at Karun Nair,” Harbhajan told PTI.
Sarfaraz has been in good form lately, scoring 101 off 76 balls in a practice match with 15 fours and 2 sixes. He has played 6 Test matches, scoring 371 runs at an average of 37.10. His best performance was that 150-run innings against New Zealand in Bengaluru last year.

To prepare for the England tour, Sarfaraz followed a strict fitness regime and lost 10 kg. But all his hard work and good performances were not enough to get him a place in the squad. Instead the selectors picked two uncapped players Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sai Sudharsan for the Test series.
