In response to Shikhar Dhawan, former Indian opening batsman, after Afridi made several troubling comments about the Indian Army following a horrific terror attack that left 28 civilians dead in Pahalgam, Kashmir, Afridi in turn made statements about the capacity of Indian security forces on Pakistani television, which Dhawan felt were improper.
They have also gone public with comments of their own: “Kargil mein tumhe humne haraya,” he tweeted. “You have stooped pretty low, how much lower Will you go? Instead of issuing baseless comments, try to do something to uplift your own country. Our pride is our Army. Bharat Mata ki Jai! Jai Hind!”

Afridi invited Dhawan for tea, saying: “Forget about wins and losses; I will host you for tea, Shikhar.” He put in a few comments, including that the incident looked like a movie in Indian media and that Indian cricketers who alleged Pakistan had erred.
Continuing his tirade with Samaa TV, he said, “You have 800,000 soldiers in Kashmir and this still has happened; that means you are not doing your jobs if you cannot keep people safe.” This attack in Pahalgam has been one of the deadliest attacks in Kashmir ever since the 2019 Pulwama accident, evoking an avalanche of international reactions with India holding Pakistan-backed terror organisations responsible for the violence.
