It has been an incredible season for Shubman Gill, captain of the Gujarat Titans, in 2025 so that he can take his team to the playoffs. As a batter, he was absolutely phenomenal, particularly on Sunday evening when he was instrumental in GT’s massive 10-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals to force their way into the playoffs after last season had eluded them. Gill gave a spectacular unbeaten knock of 93, increasing his T20 totals to 5000 runs. He is the second-fastest Indian to do so, having taken 154 innings, while KL Rahul bandied the record at 143 innings. Chris Gayle holds the record for the fastest time overall, securing it in 132 innings.
On the other hand, Rahul also scored a splendid century, his fifth in the IPL, allowing DC to win the toss and put up a total of 199/3 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. He became the first man to score hundreds on behalf of three different teams (Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and DC). Rahul is also the fastest Indian to cross the 8000-run barrier, beating Virat Kohli’s record. Kohli set that record at 243 innings while Rahul stole it within 224.

And while chasing it down was rather straightforward for GT, with the half-century being Sai Sudharsan’s first in the IPL, scoring 108* from 61 balls, and Gill adding a meaningful 93* runs, this will be their ninth win of the season, returning them to the top of the table. Besides GT, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have locked up their spots for the playoffs while the last one is being contended between Mumbai Indians, DC, and Lucknow Super Giants.
