Sourav Ganguly, the former India captain, said that Ravindra Jadeja has played well in the England tour. The star all-rounder has been instrumental in building partnerships with top-order batsmen and in tough situations with tailenders.
When India were 112/8, Jadeja (61 not out off 181) and Jasprit Bumrah (5 off 54) and Mohammed Siraj (4 off 30) kept the game going. They didn’t win but it was a game to remember. Jadeja batted with Bumrah and Siraj in the afternoon session and got the team to 190 odd, but fell short by 30 runs.
Ganguly praised Jadeja for his effort that kept India in the game at Lord’s Test. Ganguly said at an event in Mumbai that Jadeja has been great and will play for India as long as he plays like this. He has played around 80 Tests and over 200 ODIs and does well in batting, bowling and fielding. He is a key player and his batting has improved over time.

This was Jadeja’s fourth consecutive half-century and it came when India were in a tricky situation as they were looking to lose to England by a big margin. Jadeja’s effort gave India some hope. With Jadeja and Nitish Reddy at the crease, India struggled to 95/7 in the first hour. The pitch was tough and Jadeja and Reddy were defending instead of attacking. Ben Stokes bowled a long spell and Reddy hit a drive for India’s first boundary in 80 balls.
