Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, is showing his support for Ashish Nehra after a fantastic match where Nehra coached the Gujarat Titans to a huge seven-wicket win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6. Ganguly played with Nehra during their prime days in the national team, and he’s really impressed by how Nehra has been handling things as a coach.
After a tough start to IPL 2024, it seems the team is finding its groove again, thanks to the partnership between Nehra and star player Shubman Gill. Ganguly took to Twitter to share his thoughts, praising the Gujarat team for their cricketing mindset. He expressed how much he admires Nehra’s coaching skills, pointing out that the team has shown a lot of intelligence in their gameplay. “There’s a lot of cricket brain in their setup, and Ashish Nehra has really demonstrated a great understanding of the game,” he tweeted.

Nehra has gained respect for his coaching style, with players enjoying their time under his guidance. In this match, Gill really stepped up, scoring a stylish fifty runs as Gujarat put on a strong performance. On the bowling side, Mohammed Siraj was on fire, managing to take four wickets for just 17 runs, helping the Titans dominate the Sunrisers.
Washington Sundar also shined with the bat, scoring a quick 49 runs off 29 balls as Gujarat chased down a target of 153 with ease, finishing the game with 20 balls to spare. Gill ended up not out at 61 runs from 43 balls, leading the charge for the Titans.
When Gujarat bowled first, they did a solid job in containing Hyderabad to 152 runs for eight wickets. R Sai Kishore, playing as a left-arm spinner, took two wickets while conceding 24 runs, and pacer Prasidh Krishna also impressed with figures of 2/25 on a pitch that was tough for the batters.
Though Gujarat faced a little challenge early on, being reduced to 16/2 after two quick wickets from Mohammed Shami and Pat Cummins, they managed to bounce back successfully.
Looking ahead, the Titans will face the Rajasthan Royals on April 9 at their home ground, and fans will be excited to see if they can keep their winning streak alive.
