Sourav Ganguly, the former India captain, feels India’s bowling is ready whether or not Jasprit Bumrah is playing. He said the more they play the better they will get. He did say Bumrah makes the bowling much better.
Ganguly also wants Kuldeep Yadav, the spinner, to be in the India team. Kuldeep has played 13 Tests since his first one against Australia in 2017, taking 56 wickets. His last Test was against New Zealand in India. He didn’t make the cut in the India team led by Rohit Sharma for the series in Australia.
Kuldeep was in the India squad for the five-Test series but didn’t play.
Ganguly told Sports Tak that the players are ready and playing more will help them get even better. He wants Bumrah to be fit because he makes the attack stronger. He also wants Kuldeep on the team, saying it’s important to have a good spinner.
Ganguly said to Sports Tak, They are all ready. The more chances they get the more ready they will be. I want Bumrah to be fit. If Bumrah plays the attack is better. We have to look at the spinners. I want Kuldeep to be in the team somehow.
Jurel to play in the absence of Pant
Ganguly added if Rishabh Pant is injured then Dhruv Jurel should keep wickets. He thinks if Pant bats at 5, Jadeja at 6 and Washington at 7 then Kuldeep can be in the team. He said it’s important to have a good spinner to win often against strong teams.
Ganguly added, If Rishabh Pant is injured then Jurel will have to play. If Rishabh Pant comes in 5th, and Jadeja comes in 6th, and Washington comes in 7th then Kuldeep will have a place in this team. To win often you need a good spinner.
India recently played a five-Test series against England which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Morkel shares reason behind Kuldeep’s exclusion
After the 5th Test, bowling coach Morne Morkel spoke about why certain players were picked.Morkel said, We discussed it before every game. We felt we needed an extra batter because of the wickets and weather. Our 4th seamer didn’t bowl much in the last few games anyway. Washi and Jadeja can bowl for long periods so we wanted to strengthen the batting. We will think about the things we could have done differently.
Before the series many thought Kuldeep Yadav would play a big role especially since his left arm spin could have troubled England’s middle order. But the team used part timers and left him out even when the conditions were good for spin.
